"whilst they maybe nice people over there, and a terrible tragedy..what about the homeless in Aus that are nice people..what about the kids that are homeless or have run away from abuse?
What would ten million do for one of our hospitals where the waiting list for Aussies is longer than 12 mnths

What did the phillipines send to Australia for aid for example when nearly 200 people died in the fires in Victoria?
Did they send aid when 200 houses burnt down in NSW?
Did they send aid when Qld got flooded and people lost everything."

It might give you some sense of perspective to consider that $10 million has just been given by the NSW government for some racing carnival to take place.
That's how wealthy and insular Australia is!!

$10 million is an embarrassingly small contribution to the immense clean up job in the Philippines.

Don't cloud the issue by referring to our own homeless people. Yes, we should be doing much more to help them, but international disaster relief is an entirely separate topic and comes out of a separate budget.

Have you no empathy at all for these people who have been left with nothing, many more of whom will die soon from disease because of the aid taking so long to reach them.
How would you go without any food or water for more than a week?

A healthy global society is dependent on the ongoing contribution of its members to one another when disaster strikes.

China is one of the world's most wealthy nations.
How much have they given to the Phillippines?
    A mere $100,000!! Just unbelievable.
