re: Ann: New Nickel Sulphide Discovery at Fis... badinvest,
I have to agree, the current geological understanding of Fisher East seems to be supporting the Komatiite type nickel deposit (layered volcanic sequence with nickel occurring at the base of the ultramafic. But could the actual magma responsible for the Komatiite be nearby (ie. close to the volcanic vent)? Perhaps that is what Ian meant when he said "Magmatic Source"? Would the Komatiite closer to the vent have higher copper and PGE grades? Possibly due to higher temperature and gas content of the ultramafic? From memory, Camelwood has lower copper and PGE compared to the results at Cannonball.
plough,
Thanks for the correction, magmatic can also be used for extrusives. I guess I got excited when I saw "magmatic source" mentioned in the announcement. Komatiites by definition are magmatic (ie. derived from magma). A bit redundant for Ian to state the Cannonball nickel encountered in the same ultramafic unit to Camelwood is from a magmatic source?
GLTA and please DYOR.
