Here's a clear system for you Dave: 1. Thou shall not play with your own ears Punishment: 100 lashes. 2. Thou shall not gather at more than 4 people in any spot. Punishment: Jail for life 3. Thou shall not touch the mantle of woman Punishment: 300 lashes. 4. Thou shall not walk on the left side of the street Punishment: 400 lashes 5. Thou shall not say anything against the Goven't. Punishment: Life in prison 6. Thou shall not criticise the goven't, in writing or by speech. 7. Thou shall not speak to the media, particularly the foreign media, about the goven't.
Get the picture?
It's a very "clear" system but it dumbs down and frightens a population. It's a big brother, patronising system which will not allow its citizens to think for themselves, to innovate (hanging and the Death Penalty are medieval blood sports) and to force the govn't to innovate and THINK about the moral, ethical and practical consequences of their decisions. It is a govn't that will allow itself to become utterly corrupt and will brook no suggestions -faulty or wise- for reform. All intelligence is sapped out of that "clear system." Newspapers, magazines, TV, everything to do with information, internet, etc. are under the control of the government. And who chose it? Not my idea of Democracy and if it is yours, Dave then you better rethink the Iraq invasion because the excuse "Saddam ran a dictatorship (with very clear rules indeed!) and that's why we went in there" holds no ice with anyone anymore and if that's what you truly believe, then you better rush your army into Singapore immediately.
