For their part, those who voted against the Coalition have the same expectations of their pollies. Tony Abbott did his level best to bring down the former governments and can expect nothing less than that in return.
But thus far Abbott has already broken some of his great big election promises; even ones in writing such as more open and transparent government.
At no stage did Abbott explain to mainstream Australians that he would go to CHOGM and glowingly praise the Sri Lankan Govt and downplay allegations of human rights abuses levelled against it by the international community; nor did he explain that he would gift Sri Lanka naval patrol boats.
Abbott never even explained that he would increase Australia's debt limit by 67% and add to the budget deficit by gifting gambling money to the RBA. Quite the opposite.
As for his treatment of the science community and the decision not only to cancel planned regional development projects as promised but also those already underway that he never explained; boy has he made the people of Indi happy with the Coalition!
Abbott maybe our PM but he does not have free licence to run amok and selectively address all those great big election promises he made. As for raging around on the world diplomatic stage with muddy hobnail boots and without his daughters to soften his image, ...
