reading some of the posters to date it is startling how so many have completely missed the plot.

Ive little dobut weve been sucked into the american 'anything goes attitude' and as usual our blind following of uncle sam has got us into deep trouble again. Austalia is or rather was in a unique position to be an honest broker. This can surely no longer be the case. We are as untrustworthy and as arrogant as our anglosphere brethren in the UK and USA. When will Australia understand that the colonial and ANZUS alliance days are gone. We need to engage in the region where we belong and not treat the asia region like some alien life formlike some alien zone, we should be egaging them and at lest attempt to undrstand them. Lets not forget that many of these nations were brutalised by colonial powers, least of which the Brits to which Australia is so closely aligned.
