Here's another fact about Indonesia while we're having a good bash.
Did you know between 500,000 and 2 million people were brutally massacred across Indonesia in 1965-1966 in a mass genocidal campaign?
General Suharto used an abortive putsch by left-leaning army officers to justify an unrelenting murder campaign to wipe out ethnic Chinese Indonesians. The killings were orchestrated by the military then carried out by agents of the state, freelance activists and gangsters. They were murdered simply because of their political views and ethnicity.
Here is the crazy part, not a single person has been committed or held responsible for these crimes. In fact, the people responsible (a.k.a Death squad leaders) are hailed are hero's.
There is a great documentary called "The Act of Killing" which shows how twisted and evil these people are. The Death Squad leaders are still celebrating the people they killed, praised as patriots by youngsters of today. Crazy!
