Reading some of the blatantly racist and narrow minded comments on this forum makes me think most of the people commenting here hark back to a very dark white paranoid past.
Many comments relate to the boat people which just says to me 'paranoid'.
Last January l flew into Darwin Airport, we were told there was a delay in getting off the plane. Wish l had taken a photo of about 30 people being marched off the run way followed by a trailer of small rubbish bags all tied in knots at the top, their personal possessions. My 16 yo son looked out of the window at the sight and was sickened by what he saw.
Asia is growing in wealth, stature and also developing their rightful place on the world stage and progressing the living standards of their citizens. Can only hope we continue to have a good neighbourly role in this to benefit our country as well which we desperately need economically & intellectually. ........

ps. My father was a WW2 Vet that loved going AWOL but l guess it couldn't be avoided in PNG whilst trying to defend yourself. l grew up in the shadow of his beliefs and cultural theories and can happily say he over came a lot of his prejudices LOL
