my understanding is that Indonesia is not interested for various reasons to import chilled meat - lack of refrigeration being one of them.
Further, the beef that gets imported apparently is too small for Australion abattoirs.
I share your sentiment that decisions should be made when one ha an understanding of the situation and not because of public pressure.
My impression is that our current government is not adhering to that principle, an example in support of that could be the idea to buy Indon. fishing boats to stop people coming.
