"I really cannot get over just how rediculous the constant diverganal subject of spying that keeps getting brought up and it's all of a sudden relevance to anything when again for the 3rd time it happen on 2009 term of Labors reign. ..."

This was indeed mentioned multiple times during last night's Q&A.

What was not explored much at all was the extent to which spying has been undertaken throughout the Howard Years and following 911 and our participation in the illegal invasion of Iraq.

What was not mentioned was the name of Australia's Ambassador to Indonesia at the time, who it was that appointed him and the context in what that was done.

Greg Sheridan's take on the matter at the time included this comment about Labor's 2010 update with Greg Moriarty:

"... GREG Moriarty is a brilliant choice as Australian ambassador to Indonesia. He is the sort of diplomat the government turns to when it needs to get things done. Especially difficult things. Moriarty is one of very few Australian diplomats ever to have briefed an American president. ..."

Tony Abbott enjoys the services of Labor's appointee as Ambassador while Labor inherited John Howard's choice. Such is politics in Australia!
