Ill answer both AKA Hoots and Pup Tentacle in this post.

AKA' post said, that Xstrata closed their Magnetite operations because they couldn't make money from it and that's why they withdrew from the JV on the rail. AKA you just must make things up as you go along. Xstrata closed the Magnetite because they were shut down by the DERM (State Gov Environmental) because it had blown over the town. The storage and handling shed in Cloncurry township, was on the wrong side of township. The train had to go from the west side of town and was cutting off the town as the railroad runs through the middle of town. Because the jv rail load facility was not ready Xstrata had no choice but to close down the Magnetite operations. (Source of information NW Star Newspaper Mt Isa) Xstrata said that they were making excellent returns from the Magnetite. So as usual AKA wrong again. The price of Magnetite they said had actually gone up after the Feasibility Study was completed, so they said they made more cash flow than expected.

Pup Tentacle: said that Cudeco would have to build an $80m process plant for the magnetite. If you had time to come to Cloncurry, Pup, to the AGM and seen the flow sheets at the AGM and visited the site you would have seen the Magnetic process plant already under construction. It has its own circuit including its own Vertical Mill (the same as Xstrata's at Ernest Henry) it also has three magnetic separators in the circuit. The Vertical Mill is after the Big Ball Mill. Sometimes it pays to know what you are talking about before you put pen to paper. I think that this is the main problem with some posts. They are literally saying anything without any knowledge of the project. I learnt alot at the meeting and all of the questions asked at the AGM and on site with the mine manager and their technical people. The geologist in the pit explained to all of us that this is one of the best copper projects he has worked on in his 20 year career. He is from South Africa and said, "this is going to open peoples eyes when that plant starts up" I agree and feel sick in the stomach when I read some of these posts that are just plain wrong and misleading. I dont take any notice of AKA and his other little group of knockers and I dont think that a lot of others do either. It seems AKA Hoots can say whatever he wants with no fear.
