unlike some others who have posted congratulating you on your post, I think that it is full of poor logic, poor knowledge of the industry and poor suggestions of the path that NWE "should" have followed.

NWE may have been lucky if they had followed your path, but the chances are that they would have failed dismally, because with out the technical data that they are collecting they would have no idea what specifications were necessary to fracc the shale, what length to drill to produce a commercial horizontal well etc., etc.
