What if Onyx tried to play the sneaky card we will manufacture the product for you ie. we'll fit the bill but we are doing it in house.

Huh? No-one said anything about Onyx manufacturing it, just paying for it. Even so, there's a thing called patent. No cmpany of Onyx size would try a shonky of that nature. For what purpose anyway?
