Trees survive and reproduce, but I don't think they have a motivation.
Of course, they certainly express their potential and the Universe's potential. Growing, providing shelter, providing food, flowering beautifully, fruiting, etc. can be interpreted as happiness as well as survival.
I think the scientific focus on survival ignores our conscious motivation, which is happiness. Trees, don't have consciousness, AFAIK.
