life itself has no essential purpose

I posted somewhere all life is the constant reproduction and consuming of food by life forms, generation after generation after generation

looking at the big picture, it is meaningless

why don't you simply open you eyes and see that?

now I sit in my garden and there are birds building nests, flies nibbling at my legs & plants consuming nutriment in the soil. all they are doing are eating & reproducing

plants, birds & insects may help each other survive but their ultimate existence is meaningless

I have interest in the ASX solely to feed my mouth and shelter my body or, if indulgent (not me), engage in more sophisticated eating

your question of why we are here cannot be answered

we are not here as a test by some sadistic god

ask yourself why are bacteria here? leave some food on the kitchen sink until the bacteria start to grow all over it. ultimately, why is this bacteria here (apart from its conventional purpose of breaking down things)?

all of that said, we cannot change the reality that we are here, alive, and this life is challenged by many forms of difficulties & potential sufferings so the best thing we can do here is find peace

even if we believe that believing in Jesus will bring us an eternal life, we gain a sense of peace from that

but if you say: "we are here to please Jesus so we can have eternal life" that is just a belief

ultimately, we are all on a merry-go-round the Indians called 'samsara'. the merry-go-round stops when we stop believing in a 'self' because, as I pointed out at the start, the real question is not "why do I exist?" but, instead, what is the "I"?

    regards
