Yes, I know, I heard it when he said it. But how can both statements be right? He played those who don't listen closely for suckers and the ABC was happy to continue the lie.
But even when you read the full statement, how can he possibly say what the price per ton would be on a floating market twelve months hence? How can he say what a taxpayer just might save in twelve months if his onerous tax is crippled? If he want's to change it, what was wrong with it in the first place?
His own forward estimates used a figure much higher than $25/ton, maybe $40. Where is the saving there? No saving, just heavy cost. But if the idea is to save a couple of seats, who cares about facts or truth.
