I know nothing about takeovers but if a company thought drilling would produce the goods, would it be more likely a bid would be made prior to the main drilling, thereby circumventing the insider rule you mentioned.
With this scenario would the fact that 3d seismic had been shot and evaluated be considered insider information.
I am not suggesting that this is happening but trying to get my head around all the possibilities.
