re: Ann: Appointment of Amanda Lacaze as a No... I agree with the suspicions but the bias against them means we will get no where if we don't try these methods.

I hire people and it goes like this -

Job ad with 10 requirements

Bloke reads it and has 2 of the 10 will apply and 'give it a go'
Girl reads it and has 8 of the 10 and says to herself 'when I get those last 2 I will apply'

We are missing out on serious talent through intrinsic behavior - then add the boys clubs in some industries and the unconsious bias in most and there you have it.

My observation has been that in general women in senior roles in industry are actually more experienced or better performers than men at the same level. I have never seen a women over promoted but it has happened to men often.

I wouldn't underestimate someone who has had her career success.
