Still lots of BS flying around. I would believe an ENI guy anyday. A few fact corrections:

You CANNOT get a CO2 reading from a wireline log!!!!!

You can only get an indication of CO2 from the surface gas chromatograph which is trying to analyse gas in mud, cuttings and other crap coming out of the well. It gives an indication - but that's all. It is not definitive nor can it give you an accurate %.

Likewise, a gas kick or HP well does not mean it has permeability. You need porosity and permeability. Usually they come together - but not always. Tight gas/shale gas is a classic example were you get high porosity but low permeability. You can also get gas kicks from low perm rocks.

And before any smarty pants tells me this is not shale - I know that - it is just by way of example. There are plenty of low perm sandstones in the world as well!

"In the last 10 years, an increasing amount of US gas production is coming from shale gas wells. Shale has a lot of porosity (much more than sandstone), but extremely low permeability." Full website link below.

Timber - you should know all this!!!

As far as some of Timber's recent comments - Newton is an ex geo??????? Not that it matters - but really, get your facts straight.
