tb, bees' eyes are not very good. They are not quite blind, but use other senses to navigate. I'd put their range of vision at about half a metre max. If you move the hive by more than half a metre, they'll not find it when they come back from foraging.
As for the experiment, they instinctively got used to travelling further each time.
If they were intelligent, they would be able to identify destructive invaders like the small hive beetle and eliminate them. Or even attack me when I rob their hives!
