Referencing Greenpeace is not necessarily the best thing for the cause. They are clearly an environmental advocacy organisation, but their motives and focuses and statistics must always be questioned because they are a massive global money making machine in their own right and they sometimes get their facts completely wrong and when one combines this with their (at times) activist approaches, this in itself, ironically can cause untold damage to other people's, businesses, industries and govt reputations.

Greenpeace last year received income of approx $280m and their Assets after expenditure sat at over $200m.

For the NZ Govt to revoke their Not For Profit status, this says a lot about about where Greenpeace stands. They have become a Political organisation that often act before they think.

I'm all for efforts to improve environmental impact (one of my stocks is in this space), but only if the pros and cons are weighed up properly.

Scientists need to decide whether they want to hang their hats up with the greenie activist types (and bear the consequences), or whether they prefer to be a little more mainstream and demonstrate their theories with proven evidence/fact and work with governments for the good of all.

There are often more than two sides to every story - activists tend not to appreciate this. Be careful where you hang your hat - some comments here ring alarm bells in my mind as to exactly what the cause of some engineers/scientists is...

...these comments sound like they come from some greenie activist bunker rather than some rationale scientific/engineering background:

"Your statement is 100% incorrect. Completely wrong wrong wrong."

":-) We won Leeman :-) People now understand better how to fight this lunacy :-) Good work ;-)"

"They now know that divesting out of ANZ and COMMBANK and other filth funding corporations is the only way to beat backward progress."

"He is a dead set imbecile who can barely string together 3 syllable words"

"You were speaking with an idiot who invests in the very thing we are attacking."

    "What an idiotic reply."

" Doesn't have the intellect to compete"

    and many more.
