    Just like the mining subsidies that I have to pay day in day out.

    When pinned down and forced to nominate these "subsidies" the diesel rebate scheme is the only one they can name.

    Here is a photo of the fuel tanks being filled for the first time at Newman. [can't upload, not skilled enough] The photographer is sitting on 4 million litres of diesel. This might give a sense of scale.

    Could miners pay an extra $1/l on this and stay viable? The more marginal ones would close immediately. Why should they pay "road tax" on diesel that is used entirely within their lease?

    The comrades really want to kill mining, no idea why.
