Agree Fents, tip of the Iceberg if we are talking to groups involved in DICE development such as Exergen or Ignite.

"The use of MRC would enable a delivered efficiency (from resource through to delivered electricity) of around 50% HHV, and with a CO2 emission rate of 670-700 kg/MWh – a level that is significantly lower than new conventional coal technologies (a 20-25% saving compared to new coal plants), and comparable to open cycle natural gas turbines (see figure above).

The CO2 savings from DICE are even greater when compared to most existing coal-fired power plants, and savings of 30-35% are likely when replacing existing black coal plants, and around 50% when used to replace current brown coal plants (especially those in Victoria)."

The potential is massive when compared to the competiton vying for funding IMO.

For Coldry to even get close(but still considerably higher) to DICE emissions a new ultrasupercritical power station would need to be built.

    http://www.innovation.gov.au/Energy/Documents/sustainability-and-climate-change/env-clean-technologies-ltd.pdf

"Burning Coldry Pellets made from Victorian Lignite in an ultrasupercritical black coal boiler would generate CO22 emissions in the range of 0.7-0.80tCO2-e/MWh, and thus fall within the threshold proposed by the standard."

You can see Coldry almost makes the grade when burnt in a new latest technology power station(if one existed in Vic) however the inflexibility of these burners to compliment renewables is a big negative IMO.

DICE can be ramped up or down when needed and even shutdown all together and restarted when required with only 20mins notice needed.

It can be implemented one engine at a time for much lower cost and added to as the old boilers are slowly shutdown and replaced all together.

And importantly DICE has already been named by the Gov as the tech to be likely implemented first as part of the ERF and Direct Action.

If Mantle can be somehow associated with DICE and it's participants then we will be sitting on something very good IMO. Let's hope the discussions currently underway point us in that direction!

    cheers
