If the government only gets PUP onside that will not be sufficient if the "others" vote with Labor/Greens

Senate seats after July 1 2014

    Coalition 33
    Labor 25
    Greens 10

So Labor/Greens have 35 against 33 for Government.

An absolute majority in the Senate is 39, meaning the Government will need six extra votes to pass legislation or any other motions, as any question resulting in an equally divided vote is lost. (from AEC)

Government therefore needs to pick up three over that Labor/Greens total or 6 out of the following 8

    Pup
    Pup
    Motor Enthusiasts (in with PUP)
    Xenephon
    DLP
    LDP (the accidental member)
    Family First
    Australian Sports
