"Some people make stupid comments dott.

Are the comments made always rational, reasoned, informed, researched, scientifically-testable, tried, and logically concluded?

    Not always.

This lady made a stupid comment. Was it her right to make a stupid comment. I would argue yes.

How will she progress in the PR game from now on?"
    --------------------------------------

The last question is the real point here. She was unbelievably stupid to say what she did. Her comment was so ignorant that I doubt it would actually offend any sensible person. Rather it just goes to her complete irrelevance as any sort of social commentator.

She absolutely asked to be sacked imo.

There has certainly been in recent years too great a tendency for us all to take offence at the slightest comment made in poor taste. This has been encouraged by the last government: remember Nicola Roxon's proposed legislation about it being illegal to offend someone?
What a crock! Sensibly, it was voted down.

Tim Wilson's recent appointment (despite the outcry from the Left) will go some way to bringing balance to the Human Rights Commission with his vigorous defence of free speech.

We need not to go round insulting one another unnecessarily, but attempt to strike a sensible middle position of being able to freely express a thoughtful opinion as distinct from either making aggressive, rude remarks on the one hand, and being too afraid to open our mouths on the other.
