"What about amphetamine users? Wait till their teeth fall out... who will pay for their dental bills? Wait till they go on a psychotic rage and kill a loved one or someone who owes them money?"

Please tell me how many people, as a percentage of the population are amphetamine users? What is the annual cost of their 'dental bills' compared to the annual cost of the 'war on drugs'?

"Speak to them and they will come up with all their arguments... about how it should be legalized.."

    Because they haven't harmed anyone?

"Just to qualify, my initial reaction to people justifying damaging drugs can be a little abrupt..... I've had to deal with the damage in others."

Fair enough, I'm not saying that drug ABUSE is a good thing, neither do I encourage it. I can just see that the current method of dealing with it/thinking about it is deeply flawed and causes more problems than the drug use itself. If it WAS the right way to go then would not have to deal with the effects of it's uselessness. Persecuting and imprisoning people who commit victimless crimes is always the territory of despots, more interested in forcing obedience than protecting the innocent.

"We are all human, we are all susceptible, some could quite successfully argue that those addicted to wanting more and more money are damaging to us all.... agree... because they don't care what they do to get it....

Yes, Addiction is a mental/spiritual issue not able to be remedied by state force.

"It's not all about "evil corporations", the "evil CIA", the greedy and the power-mongers certainly have a LOT to answer for...."

True, but a lot of it is.

"I am tired of hearing of the crimes of bashings, murder, theft that I know are directly due to those on drugs."

Me too. The difference is that I don't pick and choose. Alcohol is the worst drug by far when it comes to violence so why aren't the 'anti-drug' crowd going after that? Also, I have spoken to many long term pot users and without exception they NEVER see violence amongst pot users unless there is alcohol present as well. And what of those who take multiple drugs which causes long term problems? Why doe the pot always get the blame?

"As for the ferals trying to sell dope on the streets of Nimbin..... some of them look like they are pretty gone in the head and in need of a wash/good job, makes you wonder if their dope selling proceeds are servicing nastier drug-habits.... oh yes... a few of them will proceed down the line to meth labs..... but they could tell you about all the wonder benefits of hemp.... blah-blah....."

Wouldn't know, never been there, either way I try not to judge a book by it's cover. :)
