If we are talking of poverty, we need to also discuss the working poor.
I know many here don't want to know about it. Get educated, work smarter not harder etc all the usual tripe. The fact is, someone has to do their job. They still have 24 hours in the day same as you and me.
No matter what they do, they can never earn enough to buy a home and average rents are half their weekly income.
Poverty is a serious issue and it shouldn't be in Australia. Perhaps some of you should pull your heads out of you know where.
