There seems to be a lot of comment on the plagues of Egypt and how this was an attack on Egyptian gods and wasn't the Pharaoh a nasty fellow....
MrGordon reminds us: "We should all be careful not to display Pharaoh's scornful attitude."
Exodus 10: vs 20 and 27. "But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go."
Seems to me from those passages that Jehovah constructed this entire situation to be exactly the way he wanted it. If god hadn't 'hardened Pharaoh's heart', the story would have ended much sooner with much less loss of life and suffering.
Another example I think, of a God that is truly not deserving of respect or obedience. And certainly not someone I'd choose to use as a basis for morality.
