Relying on history alone IS useless. That's why I do supply chain by calling up competitors, suppliers, customers, regulators, industry, research body etc. and anyone else I feel is relevant.
Combine this with many other research (bottom-up, top-down, Chinese history, commodity history, copper/gold mine database etc.) equates to over 100 hours of work.
Financial analysis alone is also pointless.
Moral of the story: investing is hard-work. Have been buying/accumulating for 6 months.
