I'm interested in the general discussion about ng . I don't lean one way or another on it at this stage .
What I find amusing is all the keyboard experts on here who think they have a solution and make lots of outlandish statements when really , they have no idea.
Btw , I don't have the answer either but I'd like to see all aspects discussed with no bias.
I'm all for tax reform and I'd like to see housing be more affordable .
As far as public housing goes , it has proven around the world to be problematic and expensive . Yes , maybe it should exist for a very small part of the community but otherwise , we should let the market sort it out rather than expect the government to manage it .
The human factor suggests that some people will always rent , either by choice or because they are hopeless with money . Employment opportunities and services mean that people will gravitate to cities thus pushing up demand . It also suggests that some people are willing to invest for their future with spare cash while others will spend it on ' lifestyle '.
Fixing the property issue is far more complex than just stopping ng . Pity we couldn't have a more civil discussion about it rather than the bitchfest that it has become .
