If I recall John exercised 1.5 million options at 40c only a few months ago which would have cost him around $600k.
Exercising these would have cost him a further $1.2m.
I wouldn't read into it. John Welborn has a huge holding in EQX and I am sure just like us he only has a certain amount of liquid capital to invest in this stock.
He has plenty at stake here so letting a few at the money options lapse isn't a concern given the substantial investment he made late last year. I would only be concerned if he started selling which I think is highly unlikely.
I think 2014 will be the year for EQX.
