    Sure, there are automated algorithmic trades being carried out, these are known as robot or bot trades. They are made by computers at very high speed.

    The operators pay a set fee to the ASX to enable them to carry out as many trades as they like within a set period for that sum. This is why you sometimes see odd trades of one share etc.
