"If you can't see that it's not a good idea there must be something wrong with you."
Well Disco Stu, in a few weeks time the whole nation will take a day off and celebrate because of the 26th January 1788.
Should we just re-write history and pretend the first fleet didn't arrive here? It is a celebration!
If you are so worried about the divisive nature of the date, why not complain about aboriginals flying their own flag. Why not complain about aboriginal promotional weeks in the sporting codes. I'm happy to celebrate our aboriginal culture, but it works both ways. You can complain about divisiveness when it all works one way.
Make it law that we must use the one flag and it might go a long way to creating unity. I would be even happy to have a flag incorporating the aboriginal flag with the southern cross.
But, I am sick of people telling us we should be embarrassed to celebrate our culture and we shouldn't be patriotic.
I have no problems with aboriginals celebrating their heritage, as long as we are afforded the same luxury. If not, lets start on re-writing history, forget the past and legislate against any celebrations of separate cultural groups to ensure unity.
