Australia Day should always remain 26th January. It is recognition of the beginnings of how this country formed into its current state. It is the day that two cultures met and forged the way to become a great multicultural country.

I think we should have a separate day to recognise, celebrate and reflect on our aboriginal culture.

That's a very diplomatic way to put it nicky and I'm not mocking you...but I ask as frankly as I can...what exactly has indigenous culture done for Australia? Where would we be today if the British didn't colonise? Not forgetting indigenous Australians had a chance for tens of thousands of years. Indigenous Australians have the most $/citizen, by far, thrown at them decade in decade out and we're yet to see any return for it, if we honestly admit and stop being politically correct. The culture doesn't assimilate. It doesn't help it self to raise above it's prejudices of the past and catapult their young towards a forward moving generation. It's not about 'white man' not giving them a fair go...it's about them not giving themselves a fair go to grow and prosper...like other minorities choose to do when faced with adversity.

The last thing we need is a parade of indigenous people marching with hatred about how hard done they were over 200 years ago. Would it celebrate how far they've come in over 200 years with colonisation? I doubt it...only the parts to suit the agenda would be remembered. And how much native claims and royalties exist Australia wide? Is that money available to all indeginous people...considering they're nomadic and Wagyls and such stretch vast areas. Or is there prejudice within the tribes? Pardon my ignorance on the matter.

I believe Australia Day should stay as it is. Happy or sad...good or bad...that our beginning was...it certainly has evolved into a lucky country. ANY person...presently here or yet to arrive...has equal opportunity to forge whatever life they choose. Political correctness is at an all time high that short of wiping their 'noses' it's never been easier.

If we are to have a change then I propose from the chosen day forward no one shall ever bleet about who did what to who and how long along. Make it a pledge to move forward and stop adding crutches to the past.

I'm not racist. I welcome everyone. I'm just fed up with the angle that we stole...for today we're one of the most giving nation...that makes us equal.

PS: I like the angle that a new Australia Day can't interfer with a freebie existing public holiday. How much more Australian can one get...lol
