A point to note is that gold mining company's AISC have dropped since the squeeze and mining company's production has gone up. This of course may be short term whilst miners mine out their "high grade" however and also can only "sharpen their pencil" so much in response to the squeeze on costs - just a pity that the miners allowed costs to rise so much when times were good.
