Simplicitus, it is a two-way street and it starts with respect. If the guest does not want to respect the host, it is the host's responsibility, finally, to say 'I've had enough' - start to toe the line.

Some of these posters (thankfully in the minority) appear to be extremely confused and naive. They seem to think that its all a bed of roses and the police are out there playing tiddly winks and so, they would rather poke fun and/or trivialise these topics, rather than addressing the evidence and discussing seriously - they clearly have no argument and choose to dance around the clear problem, or place their heads in the sand...

...at least ddzx is attempting to debate, although his openness and opinion and attitude about Australia and Australians pretty much mimics the attitude we are experiencing from many we hear about in the media who are unable to verbalise their opinions and who would rather let violence do the talking... thankfully ddzx has at least moved down the Buddhist path rather than radical indoctrination...

People who attempt to wash things down by posting about attending barbeques, or who have mates or colleagues (as I have) who are Middle Eastern, are completely missing the point. Human nature tells us that most people are not criminals, however, this does not mean that there isn't a more serious problem posed by some people from this particular community and that they (excuse the pun), punch above their weight in terms of violent acts.

As per Detective Superintendent Deb Wallace, who heads the Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad in the NSW Police, there is a propensity for violence by some in this community (moreso, proportionally than other communities) - hence the need for a "Middle Eastern Organised Crime Squad" (and this is only in relation to organised crime) and as discussed by Michael Humphrey from Sydney Uni, there is a particularly higher culture of male masculinity in the Middle Eastern community and combined with the theory that many male offspring of the 1980's Lebanese influx, might exhibit characteristics of diminished power and less control over their women now that they live in a more liberal society, "violence can be an act of self liberation, the remaking of the self."

Serious discussion, like any other. For those happy to debate (both sides), great - that is what forums are about. For those who want to dismiss it out of hand and you've done so, unless you are prepared to debate, move on; and for those who continuously trivialise and poke fun, well, trolls will be trolls.
