The only thing that bothers me about this is the fact that Bell Potter that has been FGM's most bullish broker over the last couple of years effectively reported this 2 or 3 days ago. Just guessing? Yeah sure.

No, I don't think they were guessing.

While I understand your point, the report, - which I have read, - was put forward as an option, not a fait accompli. Experienced investors may well take it as a fait accompli.

Bells is in close contact with FMG. The research report from Bells however had no effect on the share price on the day it was released. 14th. FMG opened at $5.10 and traded 17.5m shares all day between 510 and a brief late run to 517 before closing at 515.

No rules have been broken here. As a matter of fact I did buy some more on that day at 515, but not because of the report.

For what its worth, my pure guess would be that the gas option was discussed sometime at a meeting. And announced on 16th.

Broker research costs money, and much of it is useless. This may be one time that it was good value. But if you want it you have to pay for it.

On the 14th Bells made a good case for a switch to gas. On the 16th FMG announced they were doing just that.
