Undoubtedly a case of Chinese pride in action because from the economic point of view this MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

When it comes to money it is always the walled that speaks and not patriotism.

When the Japanese economy crashed and firms there had to cover losses they were forced to repatriated funds from abroad. FULL STOP.

If faced with an identical situation logic tells me that the Chinese will, most likely, be forced to do exactly the same, that is, to liquidate their assets abroad in order to to plug their holes at home.
