    I don't have a clear understanding of this law yet, but what happens if you are provoked into a fight and accidently kill someone? Surely a provoked attack should not incur such a sentence. What if a Billy Slater type situation were to occur where you are standing at the front of a nightclub and someone king hits you and you retaliate and kill him with a punch???? Surely if Billy Slater were to retaliate but kills the bloke, he shouldn't have to spend 8 years in prison.

    This is why this new law is ridiculous on so many levels. We already have manslaughter laws so this new law just smacks of an overreaction and desperation on O'Farrell's part.

    As I said before, if the judicial system had done its job with previous sentencing of manslaughter cases, a stupid law for just punches would not be required.
