tls and fundamentals
I have seen a lot of comments on this thread recently about TLS being broke, finished, etc. What are the fundamental arguments to support these assertions? At the moment I am seeing the same sorts of comments as during the tech boom re 'old world' companies.
For example it is repeatedly suggested that VOIP is the killer internet app and will slay off TLS. WHY? What about VOIP is a fundamental threat to TLS? Is it the price eg free or nearly free? If it is how will VOIP providers make money? It is an ultra low margin product which still requires infrastructure, in this case bandwidth, to deliver.
Personally i see no threat to TLS from VOIP - only opportunity but I am open to fundamental business arguments to the contrary and on fundamental business threats generally.
