this thread made me think more about why I don't like tattoos.
I like art - I spent 8 years at The Academy of Arts in Tasmania and I have met zillions of artists and seen many types of art all over the world.
So, why don't I like tattoos?
Well, I just worked it out - it was pretty simple - but I had never thought much about it before -- so I just, in the last few minutes visited a few famous tattoo sites -------
guess what?
They are crap. They are some of the shittiest art I have seen.
Maybe skin isn't a good medium - possible but I don't think so.
content --------- it is content ---------- almost all of it is crud -------- very ugly crud.
A lot of it has underlying darkness about it - fantasy, skulls, - almost all of it too busy and about as artistic as a toothbrush. The rest of it is very ordinary as well - below are a couple of sites that purport to have beautiful tattoos.
Ugly and pointless would be a more apt description imo.
