"how many people would take the same image on their skin --
if it were a painting ---- would have bought it and put it up in their house?
Would they have done it at all? Would they have got pleasure out of it for years?"
As I said earlier Pinto many street artists images or "style" as often not exact replicas are virtually exact quality of image from canvas / wall / whatever medium to skin.
It would be very tricky to contour these images to skin & account for the variables as the body moves and skin moves with it.
It comes down to if you like their work I guess & often very diverse everywhere from hyperrealism to even simple stamp like images.
Actually a good comparison for times past but they where so far removed is if vibrant colour had been brought into tattoos 50 years ago imagine pop-artists painting skin compared to the blue and red tough things of those days - skull and cross bones, mom, rose, flag etc
FWIW I don't have a tattoo.
