Hi all,
I'm looking to start a CFD account for the purposes of going short. CFDs seem to be the easiest way for a retail investor to go short on a variety of instruments. I have no desire to use any leverage and would like to put up the full value of the position for each trade.
I've signed up for a demo on CMC and Comsec. I expected to be able to nominate the value of the position that I would like to put forward but instead it seems the margin figure is fixed at the minimum % for that instrument (seemingly 20% for most stocks).
Can someone please give me a pointer or two on the easiest way I can use either platform to trade without leverage?
Just an observation but I expected the CFD platforms to be similar to a standard online trading platform but instead they seem to resemble a video game type layout.
Cheers
