A solution for the spc drama is to not get into this crap in the first place.
Lets look at where we are now in food in OZ
We buy cheap crud from China -- we have no idea on how most of it is farmed/harvested/processed.
We buy lots of stuff from southern Italy ---------- complete with toxins ----------- how would we know?
We buy farmed seafoods from Asia --------- how much of it do we test?
In short, we have no bloody idea.
Now, to our home grown foods. What do we do.
We start with farms.
We turn them into corporations.
Superannuation companies sell them off to the highest bidder - often foreign, always profit orientated - almost always not concerned about quality - profit rules.
What is the end result?
We eat crap food -- some of it is more than likely toxic - not poisonous ------------ toxic. Our people end up out of work. Our people end up leaving rural areas and migrating to city. Our farming expertise disappears. Our economic base dwindles. Our food security is massively threatened.
Now, philosophically, I believe in free trade ---------- however, food is different.
This is one area we NEED to control.
Control imports. Assist growers. Assist the nation to eat quality.
atm, we have a nation eating garbage whilst we have some of the cleanest farm land/air and water on the planet.
This is ridiculous.
Get rid of this build it and flog it off to the highest bidder mentality.
Keep the bloody farm ------------ it feeds us.
It is one thing to be a grower. It is one thing to be a co op ------------
it is another thing to turn it into a public company and to allow things to be sold off.
Get real OZ --- or starve.
It is not going to harm australia to pay $2 for a meal of something safe and fresh instead of a chinese thing for 70c that is of very dubious supply.
