SPC Ardmona (SPCA) herewith requests the application of a provisional safeguard tariff of at least 45% to be applied to specified Multi serve fruit products for 200 days consistent with the WTO Safeguards Agreement followed by a full safeguard tariff at the same level phased out over three years while SPCA undertakes an adjustment plan that aims to enable the industry to be competitive against imports without the tariff.
SPC Ardmona operates three facilities in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley and directly employs around 1,500 people currently on a casual and full time basis and supports a total 2,700 jobs more jobs in the Goulburn Valley. The company directly injects about $63 million into the local economy through salaries and wages and provides apprenticeships, training programs, work experience programs and graduate student programs to young people in the region.
