My two cents on coal fired power stations . Yes there are lots of pollutants in their emissions (including levels of radioactive emissions far greater than any running nuclear plant) . Yes the newer coal stations have cleaned up their particle emissions to a degree, with filter units and such installed, but not co2 . co2 and other harmfull pollutants are still released in massive amounts .
Industry Co2 emmisions have to be massively and urgently decrease if we are to avoid a global environmental disaster . Except for a vocal few, This is overwhelmingly accepted as scientific fact globaly .

Economical CO2 storage is probably decades away, as is base load power from solar and wind .In my opinion emissions control for the coal and oil industries has been so lax that we have generations of people who think that smog blankets ,grey skies over cities and high levels of respiratory disease is a normal thing . Yes coal is cheap but under regulated imo . Nuclear by comparision is, rightly held accountable and highly regulated .

Lets see an equally robust coal and oil industry that is, like the nuclear industry ,held accountable to past environmental damage done and future enviromental risk. Then lets compare the real cost of power generation.
Nuclear power has stepped up over the last 50 years and is increasingly safe, generating over 10% of electricity with close to zero co2 emmisions (and before you say Fukashima and Cheynobal), Check the FACTS on the actual damage done globaly from nuclear power and compare nuclear to the estimated two million deaths a year and the impending and current eviromental damage done from coal and oil . Check the facts on nuclear waste storage against the free releases of waste from coal and oil.

Despite the uninformed fear of nuclear, it is established ,proven comparatively safe, cheap and unlike otters ,ready to expand now. It is by far our best chance of addressing global warmining whilst time for debate is running out .

That feels better . Now about that slx price......
