Already done that and delighted with the outcomes - not unlike what happened post WW2!
As for your comment about Australia not being well-placed to take extra asylum seekers; are you trying to tell me that the wealthiest nation on Earth with a $1.5 Trillion economy that has experienced 23 years of unbroken economic growth, with world-best macro-economic KPIs and the world's most liveable cities is not 'well placed'?
That's just plain wrong!
Tony Abbott's denigration of asylum seekers relates much more closely to his personal ideological idiosyncrasies and self-serving ambitions.
