As one example of company going from Mining to Biotech, check out the Rene Rivken backed Fimiston Mining in the 90s that went to an IT stock, back to mining company and is now a 3rd generation biotech ASX:AVH. Interestingly AVH has been pumped to ~30 cents in recent years and her are the name changes:
