re: erg - to move higher tomorrow? So many responses required!!

1. MichaelIrish - if your comments were directed at me, I wouldn't place too much faith in any report - gimme a reason to!

2. Mojo - Baby! Don't be cut up over the intellectual comment. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it - live with it.

3. Ardent - skatalava! (LOL!) Ala, for it to work you have to put a lot of faith in the people that use the system. HK's works because the people there have far better things to do than to go around vandalising their public transport system. Can we paint Australians (especially Sydney siders) with the same brush?? I wouldn't. The top up machines would have to be installed in major stations. Imagine installing one of those things in Rooty Hill, Blacktown, Cabramatta or Mt Druitt train stations???!! JAYSUS!

In HK they are at every station and this is why I think a lot of people make a mistake. Mojo is essentially right (sheesh won't live that one down!). The system needs the backing of the population to work. Stuff any financial benefit to ERG. It will all count for nothing if the infrastructure is continually in need of repair because of vandalism etc. That is why it has worked so well in HK. People have embraced it there - they won't here plain and simple.

Case in point - Melbourne.
