My daughter is type 1 diabetic (she is 18). She does not like continuous monitoring only because as she is on the pump (different to type 2) she doesn't want to have 2 canulas inserted on her.

She tried the continuous monitoring for a week as she needed pump adjustment at night time and it was extremely handy.

The most important with the continuous monitoring is the ability to track your night time readings and reducing the chance of a hypo during the night.

If I had type 1, 2 and was having difficulty managing my readings I would cetainly be using continuous monitoring. I hear that it is a bit expensive though...

If I had my reading under control and there was a low likelyhood of going low throughout the night I wouldn't bother with the added expense.

Just my thoughts based on 13 years with a diabetic child.
