"well summerised - re the romans calling the land palestine - this was done as in insult to the jews because of the philistines"

    Trash...

The place was called Peleset as per Egyptian hieroglyphs dating back to the 20th Dynasty ie around 1150BC.

The Assyrians called the place Palashtu or Pilistu.

The name Palestine was first used by the Ancient Greeks - 5th Century BC. So it was the Greek for whatever the locals of the day were calling it, just as we see today between languages. There is often similarity for the same word meanings, but they are rarely the same.

Palestine became the dominant name as the Greeks who settled there during that era were the dominant people.
